 Commission may soon supervise Constitutional Court

Legislators are seeking to expand the authority of the Judicial Commission to include the supervision of Constitutional Court justices.

On Thursday in Jakarta, National Mandate Party lawmaker Tjatur Sapto Edy spoke about a new law on the commission currently being deliberated at the House of Representatives.

We will synchronize the law with the Constitutional Court law,” Tjatur said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

“The Judicial Commission will have a representative at the court’s honorary assembly, and we’ve included this in the revision of the Constitutional Court law.

He added that commission members would also be authorized to supervise Supreme Court justices and all judges of lower courts across .

Tjatur, also deputy chairman of House Commission III overseeing legal, rights and security affairs, said the House expected to endorse the new Judicial Commission law in May.
